Callaway, a surgeon turned missionary and bishop of the Diocese of Natal, may have been the first to publish actual transcriptions of Zulu divination, including indigenous medical beliefs and practices, in their original language, with translation and notes. Part IV (pp. 416-448) specificially concerns "Medical magic and witchcraft." There are also numerous other references to medicine throughout the text. Though its formal title page is dated 1870, and indicates that it was published in several cities in South Africa in 1870, the copy available from the Internet Archive indicates that the printed sheets were distributed by The Folk-Lore Society in 1884.
