Probably the first significant work on military medicine by a Spanish physician. Canivell’s work, prepared for the use of students at Cadiz’s Royal College of Surgery, deals with contusions, wounds and fractures caused by gunshots, starting with wounds to the head and progressing downward through the various parts of the body to the legs and feet.
